26 Civilians Arrested And 4 Others Released

Human Rights in Iran – Saturday, October 3, 2022 – Security forces arrested 26 citizens in Tehran, Zanjan, Rasht, West Azarbaijan, Meshkinshahr, Sanandaj, Yazd, Golestan Province, Urmia, Ardebil and Oshnavieh.

According to the report of Human Rights in Iran, in recent days, Reza Kianipour, Safiyeh Gharabaghi, Morvarid Ayaz, Siavash Soleimani, Karim Sorouri, Sajjad Rahmani, Mohammad Reza Mas’oudi, Fatemeh Rashidi Aboughani, Mohammad Aref Jahangiri, Helya Karimnejad, Ali-Mohammad Dost-Hosseini, Ali Hedayati-Verdi, Salar Jahdkaran, Bawan Lotfi, Hassan Mohammad-Panah, Sara Naderi, Ma’edeh Amirsiaghi, Ali Shorouzi, Ali Da’ei Naseri, Hale Ershadi, Ebrahim Pakdel, Reza Ghorbani, Babak Hamrang, Sajjad Ghane’-Moghaddam and Omid Rasoulpour were arrested by the security forces.

In an interview with the reporter of Human Rights in Iran, an informed source said: “On Saturday, October 1 (2022), Sajjad Ghane’-Moghaddam was arrested by security agents in Ardebil and his condition is not known.”

Furthermore, regarding the arrest of several other citizens of Ardebil, the source added: “On Thursday, September 22, Haleh Ershadi, Ebrahim Pakdel, Reza Ghorbani, and Babak Hamrang were arrested by plainclothes forces during a protest in Ardebil and transferred to an unknown location and the status of these individuals is not known. However, after being followed up by their families, they were only informed that the detainees were being held in the military ward of Ardebil Prison.”

On the other hand, an informed person told Human Rights in Iran, “Karim Sorouri, a resident of Meshkinshahr in Karaj, was arrested following a raid by security forces on his home, searching his there and confiscating some of his personal belongings, and his condition is not known.”

“On Wednesday, September 21 (2022), Morvarid Ayaz, a sociologist, residing in Rasht, was arrested by security agents in the city and transferred to Rasht’s Lakan Prison and recently she has transferred to Tehran”, another informed source from Rasht city told Human Rights in Iran.

However, the Student Guild Council announced that on Tuesday, September 20, Bavan Lotfi, a graduate student in Painting and Art from Urmia University, had been arrested by security agents.

In this context, on Sunday, September 25, Ali Daei Naseri, a graduate student in youth studies at Tehran University of Social Sciences, was arrested by security forces at the university dormitory and transferred to Evin Prison.

Also, on the evening of Saturday, October 1, Ali Shorouzi, an undergraduate mathematics student from Tehran University, was arrested by security forces during protest gatherings and transferred to an unknown location. No information is available about the situation, the detaining organ, and the charges against him.

Following the widespread arrests of students, on Saturday evening, October 1, Sara Naderi and Ma’edeh Amirsiaghi, two undergraduate students at the Faculty of Economics affiliated to Tehran University, were arrested by the security forces, and there is no information about the status and whereabouts of these people.

Also, the Student Guild Council announced that on Saturday, October 1, Hassan Mohammad-Panah, a graduate student in private law at Eyvanaki University in Garmsar, had been arrested by security forces in Tehran’s Enghelab (Revolution) Square and his condition was not known.

On the other hand, on Saturday, October 1, Salar Jahdkaran, a second-year computer engineering student at Golestan Province University, was arrested by security forces during the students’ protest gathering in front of the university.

Also, on Saturday, October 1, Ali Hedayati-Verdı, a microbiology student at Tehran University, was arrested by security forces while leaving the university.

However, on Friday, September 30, Ali-Mohammad Doost-Hosseini, a dental student at Shahid Sadoughi University of Yazd, was arrested by the security forces in the campus of this higher education center.
