Two Schoolchildren Arrested In Bushehr And Kurdistan Provinces

Human Rights in Iran – Monday, October 24, 2022 – Security forces arrested two schoolchildren in Saqez and Bushehr provinces.

According to the report of Human Rights in Iran, on the morning of Friday, October 21, 2022, Sadegh Zendeh-Boodi, a high school student living in Bushehr Province, was arrested by security forces.

According to this report, Sadegh Zendeh-Boodi’s arrest took place in front of his father’s house.

Despite the parents’ references to the security and judicial organs of Bushehr Province, they still did not inform his family of his whereabouts, the name of the detaining organ, and the status of Sadegh.

However, in other news, on Monday, October 17, 2022, Mohammad Mohammadzadeh, born in 2007, a second-grade high school student in experimental science, resident of Saqez, Kurdistan Province, was transferred to an unknown location, after being arrested by security forces.

Despite the fact that more than 6 days have passed since the date of Mohammad Mohammadzadeh’s arrest, there is no information about the place of detention, the name of the arresting organ, and his whereabouts.

On October 17, 2022, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, referring to the killing of at least 23 children, including an 11-year-old boy, by the security forces during nationwide protests in Iran and the wounding, arrest and torture of hundreds of other children demanded the accountability of the Iranian authorities and an end to the killing and detention of children in Iran.

“Most of the child victims were killed by war bullets, two of the victims were also targeted by bullets, and three girls and one boy died as a result of severe beatings by the security forces.”, Amnesty International stated.

This international organization defending human rights further announced; “At least 10 of the child victims are from the Balouch ethnic group and were killed on the “Bloody Friday of Zahedan”, according to which at least several of the child victims were shot in the heart or head.”

The suppression of freedom of expression violates Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights adopted on December 16, 1966, which emphasizes the right of individuals to disseminate political and ideological opinions and views without border restrictions.

The repression of citizens and the designation of accusations based on the scenario of security agencies violates Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted on December 16, 1966.

In addition, the right to a fair trial by an impartial judge, interrogator, and investigator is among the rights highlighted in Article 10 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In Article 5 of the Criminal Procedure Law, it is emphasized on informing the accused as soon as possible about the alleged charges and providing the right of access to a lawyer and other defense rights mentioned in the law.
