Rahman Ghaderi Convicted to imprisonment
Human Rights in Iran – Thursday, September 15, 2022 – The Revolutionary Court of Piranshahr issued a statement condemning Rahman Ghaderi to prison.
According to the report of Human Rights in Iran, on Monday, September12,2022, Rahman Ghaderi, from Piranshahr County, was sentenced by the city’s Revolutionary Court to 15 months and two days in prison.
Rahman Ghaderi was sentenced to seven months and 16 days imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state” and 7 months and 16 days for the charge of “collaborating with a Kurdish opposition party’, according to the report.
If this sentence is confirmed in the Court of Appeal of West Azarbaijan Province and Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code is applied, it will be necessary for him to endure 7 months and 16 days of imprisonment.
Rahman Ghaderi was arrested by the security forces on February 13, 2022 and after being transferred to the detention center of one of the security agencies in Urmia and undergoing interrogation, was transferred to the Naqadeh Prison.
The citizen of Piranshahr was released from Naqadeh Prison on March 12, 2022, after posting bail, pending the completion of the proceedings.
The impossibility of the accused to have access to a lawyer, as well as denying the person access to other necessities in a judicial process, violates Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted on December 16, 1966.
In addition, the right to a fair trial by an impartial judge, interrogator, and investigator is among the rights highlighted in Article 10 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In Article 5 of the Criminal Procedure Law, it is emphasized on informing the accused as soon as possible about the alleged charges and providing the right of access to a lawyer and other defense rights mentioned in the law.
