Detention of a citizen living in Saqqez by security forces

Human Rights in Iran – Friday, August 14, 2020 / Saqqez security forces arrested Rahman Rahimpour, a resident of this city.

According to the report of Human Rights in Iran, on Wednesday, August 12 (2020) Rahman Rahimpour, a citizen of Saqqez County, in Kurdistan Province, was arrested by security forces of this city and taken to an undisclosed location.

He was released without an arrest warrant in Park-e Laleh in Saqqez, and news sources said that he was charged with collaborating with an anti-regime Kurdish party.

Despite the pursuit of the family and relatives of this citizen, no information is obtained about his whereabouts and legal status of Rahman Rahimpour’s case.

The deprivation of the right to visit and telephone calls for the accused during the detention and interrogation, and the observance of the individual citizenship rights, violates the article of the Criminal Procedure Code adopted in 2013, which the judiciary of the Islamic Republic claims to act.

The individuals arbitrary detainment and the lack of justification about their accusations at all time of detention and the inaccessibility of the accused to a lawyer are instances of violation of International Instrument of Human Rights, Article 9 Universal Declaration of Human Rights and also International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights, adopted on December 16th 1966.

The issue of arbitrary detainment of persons without the justification of their charges, and the culprits’ inaccessibility to a lawyer are some cases of violations of Principles noted in International Instrument of Human Rights, Article 9 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and Article 9 of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights adopted on December 16th 1966.

The individuals’ accessibility to the right of a fair judgement by an impartial court is one of the emphasized cases in International Instrument of Human Rights, Article 10 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as in Article 14 of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights adopted on December 16th 1966.
