Three Prisoners were Executed In Shiraz, Isfahan And Qom

Human Rights in Iran – Thursday, September 1, 2022 – The death sentence of a prisoner charged with premeditated murder was carried out in central prison of Qom.

According to the report of Human Rights in Iran, at dawn today, Thursday, September 1, 2022, Hamid Qaralor, Citizen of Hamedan, detained in Qom Central Prison, accused of murder who was previously sentenced to death by the court, was executed.

“Hamid Qaralor had committed murder about 3 years ago and was in prison since then. Last night, some of his relatives and friends went to the complainant’s family’s door for consent, but this family wanted retaliation and did not consent.”, a well-informed source told Iran Human Rights Organization.

Also, on August 6, 2022, Ali Qaralor, the brother of Hamid Qaralor, was executed in the central prison of Qom Province on charges related to murder.

These two prisoners were kept in Ward 1 of Qom Central Prison before the implementation of their death sentence.

Also, based on another report, at dawn today, Thursday, September 1 (2022), Hamidreza Mardani, a prisoner accused of murder, was executed in Dastgerd Prison of Isfahan Province.

“Hamidreza Mardani was arrested on charges of murder and sentenced to death about 3 years ago. Two weeks ago, he was transferred from Kashan Prison to Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan for enforcement of the death sentence.”, an informed source told Iran Human Rights Organization.

According to Human Rights in Iran, on the other hand, at dawn on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, Aref Maleki, born in 1993, a prisoner accused of murder and incarcerated in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz city, located in the center of Fars province, was executed.

Regarding the execution of Aref Maleki, an informed source added: “He was arrested about 3 years ago and was kept in prison.”

The execution of these three prisoners has not been announced by the media inside Iran or official sources so far.

After the appointment of Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ezhe’ei as the head of the judiciary and his claim to speed up the execution of old cases and as a result the execution of death sentences with the aim of reducing the country’s criminal crimes, this process lead to the protest of Amnesty International by publishing a report on 27th June, 2022, explaining the situation of the implementation of death sentences in the first 6 months of 2022 in Iran.

Due to the lack of transparency of the Iranian authorities, it is difficult to find out the actual number of executions in this country, and the number is certainly much higher than the announced figure.

Issuing and executing death sentences violates international human rights documents, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
