Hunger Strike Of Hamid Jafari, Teacher Imprisoned In Kashan Prison
Human Rights in Iran – Friday, October 21, 2022 – Hamid Jafari, a cultural prisoner in solitary confinement at Yazdel Prison in Kashan, is on hunger strike.
According to the report of Human Rights in Iran, quoted by the Union of Teachers of Iran, Hamid Jafari, a teacher of Karo Danesh Conservatory, residing in Kashan and imprisoned in Yazdel Prison, is spending the third day of his hunger strike on Friday, October 21.
This cultural prisoner in solitary confinement reportedly has declared a hunger strike from the moment of his arrest, and the reason for his civil disobedience is to protest the lack of a reason for his inappropriate and violent behavior by security and judicial authorities while detaining him.
It should be noted that on October 19, 2022, after Kashan intelligence forces and the city’s education security officer returned to Hamid Jafari’s workplace, he was arrested and transferred directly to solitary confinement in Yazdel Prison in Kashan.
The repression of citizens and the making of accusations based on the scenario of security agencies violate Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Organization and Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted on December 16, 1966.
The impossibility of access to a lawyer and the denial of access to other requirements in a due process violates Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted on 16 December 1966.
In addition, the right to a fair trial by an impartial judge, interrogator, and investigator is among the rights enshrated in Article 10 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Article 5 of the Criminal Procedure Code emphasizes on informing the accused as soon as possible of the charges and providing access to a lawyer and other defense rights.
