Report On The Situation Of Abdol-Malek Ghanbarzehi


Human Rights in Iran – Thursday, September 15, 2022 – Abdol-Malek Qanbarzehi, a political prisoner imprisoned in Garmsar Prison, is serving his prison sentence.

According to the report of Human Rights in Iran, Abdol-Malek Ghanbarzehi, born in 1984, son of Mousa, married and father of 3 children, from the village of Shandak in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, is serving the 11th year of his 25-year exile imprisonment.

“Abdol-Malek Ghanbarzehi was arrested by Zahedan Intelligence agents on the Zahedan road to Khash in 2011, and after being transferred to the detention center of this security organization and enduring six months of solitary confinement and intensive interrogation, he was arraigned,” an informed source told Haalvash about the situation of this political prisoner.

The source also added: “Abdol-Malek Ghanbarzehi was sentenced during one hearing and only a few minutes of defense by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Zahedan, chaired by Judge Mahgoli to 25 years imprisonment along with banishment to Garmsar Prison on charges of moharebeh (waging war against God).

The impossibility of the accused to have access to a lawyer, as well as denying the person access to other necessities in a judicial process, violates Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted on December 16, 1966.

In addition, the right to a fair trial by an impartial judge, interrogator, and investigator is among the rights highlighted in Article 10 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In Article 5 of the Criminal Procedure Law, it is emphasized on informing the accused as soon as possible about the alleged charges and providing the right of access to a lawyer and other defense rights mentioned in the law.
