The Execution Of Mostafa Salimi, A Prisoner In Saqqez Prison


Human Rights in Iran – On Saturday April 23rd 2020, at dawn, Mostaf Salimi, the prisoner jailed in Saqqez Prison, accused of armed robbery was executed. At the meantime with the execution of Mostafa Salimi, the condition of another prisoner named Shouresh Morovati who was transferred to solitary confinement is still unknown.

According to the report of Human Rights in Iran- Mostafa Salimi, born on June 25 1967, accused of armed robbery and kept in Saqqez Prison since 17 years ago, was exetuced at down on Saturday April 23rd 2020. The situation of Shouresh Morovati, another prisoner, sentenced to death, who was transferred at the same time with Mostafa Salimi to the solitary confinement is in a state of ambiguity.

Quoted from a credible while talking to the reporter of Human Rights in Iran, it was said: ” Regarding to the informing of judicial and security authorities to Mostafa Salimi’s family, they referred to forensic medicine to receive his corpse, and an hour ago they took back Mostafa Salimi’s dead body from the Forensics morgue in Saqqez.”

This informed source also added: ” Along time with Mostafa Salimi, another prisoner named Shouresh Morovati was transferred to solitary confinement, but no information is available on his condition.”

It should be noted that Mostafa Salimi, the prisoner accused of armed robbery and enmity (Moharebeh) against Military Forces and kept in Saqqez Central Prison, was transferred to solitary confinement for his execution sentence.

On Friday March 27th 2020, this prisoner along with some other prisoners in Saqqez Central Prison, had escaped from this prison, but he was rearrested and moved back to the prison.

During the recent years, after the interrogation process, Mostafa Salimi was justified about his accusations of ” armed robbery ” and ” enmity (Moharebeh) through fighting against Military Forces. Also in another part of the case, Mostafa Salimi was charged with membership in Kurdistan Democratic Party ( KDP ). After the judgement procedure in Saqqez Revolutionary Court, headed by ” judge Gowdini “, he was first sentenced to 15 years in prison, and then was sentenced to death. After the confirmation of the sentence by branch 31 of Supreme Court, the execution was carried out.

On Saturday April 4th 2004, this citizen of Saqqez was arrested by Security Forces of Nahavand county, around Hamadan province, and was moved to the detention of a Security Organization in Saqqez county for interrogation.

The individuals’ accessibility to the right of a fair judgement by an impartial court is one of the emphasized cases in International Instrument of Human Rights, Article 10 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as in Article 14 of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights adopted on December 16th 1966.

The issuance of death sentence for crimes such as ” Insulting the Prophet of Islam ” and ” Enmity ( Moharebeh ) against God” and ” Corruption on the earth ” are subjects with a very vague definitions.”
