According to Human Rights in Iran, Ja’far Saeedi, born in 1991, a citizen of Bukan, in W Azerbaijan Province and incarcerated in ward 2 of Bukan Prison, who is serving a 25-year prison sentence on drug-related charges, on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, went on a hunger strike to protest his denial of the right to leave. As reported, after announcing his consent for leave, the supervisor of the prisoners in Bukan Prison, announced that Ja’far Saeedi would be granted furlough if a bail of 750 million Tomans was deposited. This is while the supervisor had previously announced the amount requested for his leave as 350 million Tomans.

These rights need to be enforced regardless of the type of crime and charges against all people at any time and place, as well as regardless of their gender.
