Human Rights in Iran – Wednesday, August 31, 2022, Arezoo Amjady, a civil society activist residing in Sanandaj, was interrogated after being summoned to the city’s Intelligence Department.
According to the report of Human Rights in Iran, on Monday, August 29, 2022, Arezoo Amjadi, a civil activist and former member of the Kurdistan addiction prevention association (Jeyanewe), was interrogated for several hours and threatened to be faced with a court case, after being summoned by phone to the follow-up department of the Ministry of Intelligence located in the city of Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province.
The focus of the interrogations of Arezoo Amjadi has been about the activities of Marivan addiction prevention campaign (Jeyanewe) in Kurdistan, according to the report.
Arezoo Amjady had been summoned for questioning on August 27, 2022, after receiving a phone call from this security organization.
In Article 5 of the Criminal Procedure Law, it is emphasized on informing the accused as soon as possible about the alleged charges and providing the right of access to a lawyer and other defense rights mentioned in the law.
Suppression of freedom of speech and opinion violates Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights approved on December 16, 1966, which emphasizes the right of individuals to freely disseminate political and ideological ideas and opinions.
