Human Rights in Iran – On Tuesday, April 28th 2020, at least 3 prisoners in Urmia Central Prison and Sanandaj Central Prison, sentenced to death by the court and the Supreme Court on the charge of murder, were executed.

According to Human Rights in Iran, Faeq Sharifi, the prisoner imprisoned in Central Prison of Sanandaj and accused of murder, was exetuced in the morning on Tuesday, April 28th 2020. Also Zarar Peyghami, a resident of Oshnavieh (Northwest of Iran) and Yaser Rasouli, charged with the murder of his wife, 2 prisoners whose death sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court, were executed in the morning of the current day.

Zarar Peyghami, 54, a resident of Oshnavieh, in a personal conflict over the distribution of agricultural water had killed a man named ” Kaveh Ma’roufi (Germini) “. After the arrest and the trial proceedings, this citizen had been sentenced to death and the Supreme Court had upheld the verdict.

Human Rights in Iran had released a report on Monday, April 27th (2020), citing the Human Rights Organization, informing the transfer of Zarar Peyghami to the solitary confinement for carrying out the execution.

Also Yaser Rasouli, arrested in 2011, after the investigation and the trial, had been sentenced to death.

Faeq Sharifi, a resident of Tazeh Abad Ghadim, a city in Kermanshah province and the center of Salad Babajani county in West of Iran, was arrested in 2015 on the charge of murder, and after the interrogation process had been sentenced to death.

According to the annual report by Amnesty International in 2019, the Iranian government executed at least 251 people. At least 4 of those executed were under the age of 18 at the time of crime. However due to the lack of transparency of the authorities, it is difficult to find out the actual number of executions in this country and it may be much higher than the announced figures.

Considering the International Instrument of Human Rights and also the Article 5 in Universal Declaration of Human Rights, no one should be treated in a manner that causes their degrdation and humiliation.

On February 18, 2020, Amnesty International released a report describing human rights abuses in Iran, in which issued a report on the issuance and enforcement of death sentences: “International human rights law allows acts involving same-sex sexual intercourse with reciprocal consent and extramarital sex; muharebeh (enmity against God), spreading corruption on earth, insulting Mohammed the prophet and fighting against Islamic State are crime titles punishment of which is execution and hanging while there is no vague definition for them, yet.”
