Detention of 8 citizens living in Baneh and Kamyaran counties by security forces

Human Rights in Iran – On Thursday, April 30th 2020, at least 8 citizens residing in Baneh and Kamyaran counties of Kurdistan province were arrested by security forces. The arrest of these citizens occurred without any explanation and no information is available on the status and whereabouts of these people.

According to Human Rights in Iran, following the security forces refer to the residence of Farhad and Ahmadi Bistoon , two sons of Abdullah in Baneh, they were arrested on April 26th (2020) without any court order and were taken to an unknown location.

Also on April 25th (2020), Khalil Karimi, son of Saleh, Karim Karimi, son of Saleh, Barezan Karimi, son of Saleh, Hadi Ahmadpour, son of Mahmoud and Edris Karim Zadeh, five citizens living in Kamyaran were arrested by security forces in this county and were transferred to an unknown place.

Likewise, during the recent days, Farshad Rahmani, a citizen residing in Kamyaran county, was arrested without any reason by security forces and moved to an unknown location.

Since the arrest no Inforation has been obtained about the condition and whereabouts of the detainees, and the pursuit of their families and relatives has been ineffectual.

Detention of the individuals without any charge and explanation, and the detainees inaccessibility to lawyer are instances of the violation of International Instrument of Human Rights, Article 9 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as Article 9 of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, adopted on 16 December 1966.

The suppression of labor activists and the imposition of security charges against this group of citizens are among the cases violating human rights, and is in the line of the repression of Freedom of Speech in Iran, which there is an emphasis on it in International Instrument of Human Rights, in Article 19 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as in Article 19 of International Covenant on Civil and Politics Rights, adopted on 16 December 1966.

Article 5 of the Criminal Procedure Code stipulates that the accused shall be informed of the charges and provide access to a lawyer as soon as possible. Other defensive rights are mentioned in law, but extrajudicial actions taken by the security services violate the laws that they themselves drafted and claim to be enforced.
