Human Rights in Iran  – On May 3th 2020, Hossein Mousakhani, the political prisoner who was sent to a leave on March 6th 2020 after the outbreak of COVID-19, referring to branch 1 of Law Enforcement in Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Shahriar county, received his Conditionally released .

According to Human Rights in Iran, on Sunday, May 3th 2020, Hossein Mousakhani, born in 1977, son of Shah Ali, a graduate of Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from National University, and a citizen residing in Shahriar city, incarcerated in brigade 5, ward 4, corridor 2 in Greater Tehran Penitentiary (GTP), which had been sent on leave since March (2020) after the outbreak of corona virus, found that he has been granted a leave eventuating to his release.

For further explanations regarding to the granting of leave and then parole to this political prisoner, it should be mentioned that Hossein Mousakhani, born in 1977, son of Shah Ali, a resident of Shahriar who is serving his 8-month sentence in prison on the charge of ” insulting the leadership “, was sent on a leave on bail.

On January 16th 2020, Hossein Mousakhani was transferred from notorious Evin Prison along with a group of other political prisoners to brigade 5, ward 4, corridor 2 of Greater Tehran Penitentiary (GTP).

He was trialled in March 2018 by branch 4 of Shahriar Revolutionary Court on charge of ” insulting the leadership in the media “, and was sentenced to 8 months in prison. The verdict was upheld after the case was referred to the Court of Appeals.

On Saturday, February 10th 2018, Hossein Mousakhani was arrested by Security Police in Shahriar on the charges of ” insulting the leadership ” and ” writing anti-regime slogans and graffiti spray-painting on walls ” and other civil activities. After the arrest he was transferred to detention center of Intelligence Department located in Andisheh city, and due to completion of the interrogation process, he was temporarily released on bail.

Hossein Mousakhani was previously detained and beaten by security plainclothes officers on Wednesday, June 4th 2008, during a protest rally held in response to the former president, Ahmadinejad’s Regional Meeting with a group of Arabian States around the Persian Gulf. After being arrested and beaten, he was take to Shapour Intelligence Department in Tehran and after being 3 days there, he was transferred to the solitary confinement in ward 241 of notorious Evin Prison. Being fingerprinted and interrogated there, and being signed a written commitment for not participating in gatherings, he was released from Evin Prison after 10 days on bail.

Political prisoners in the Islamic Republic prisons are struggling with a wide range of violations of human rights. On one hand, their deprivation of the right to a fair trial, emphasized in Article 10 Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), and on the other hand, various diseases and physical injuries and their lack of civil rights in the treatment of physical illnesses and injuries are some evident of the abuses. Prisons have been suffering from these diseases since they are being imprisoned, but judicial and security officials in Islamic Republic prisons use this as a lever to justify the views or accusations against individuals, which these are as violations accentuated in Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
