Human Rights in Iran – On Monday, May 4th 2020, branch 5 of Saqqez Public and Prosecutor’s Office, biz a text message summoned Osman Esmaeili, a labor activist residing in this county. In addition to Osman Esmaeili, the Saqqez Intelligence Office sued Mahmoud Salehi, another labor activist living in Saqqez.
According to Human Rights in Iran, on Sunday, May 3rd 2020, after receiving a text message, Osman Esmaeili and Mahmoud Salehi, 2 labor activists living in Saqqez were summoned to branch 5 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Saqqez. The summoning of these 2 labor activists is following the complaint of Saqqez Intelligence Department against these 2.
Osman Esmaeili, a labor activist living in Saqqez, posted on his personal page, saying: ” Yesterday, May 3rd, in a text message from the Saqqez Judiciary, it was announced that I would refer to branch 5 of the Saqqez Prosecutor’s Office. Then I referred to the mentioned branch. After studying the case, the judge said that the Intelligence Department has filed a complaint against me and Mahmoud Esmaeili. We will inform you after the investigation “.
On April 29th (2020), Mahmoud Salehi and Osman Esmaeili, 2 labor activists residing in Sanandaj county, was telephone summoned to the Disciplinary Force’s public office in this county, however due to the unofficial status of telephone call, these 2 labor activists refused attending there.
Mahmoud Salehi and Osman Esmaeili are among the civil and labor acivists with a long history in Kurdistan province who have been summoned, interrogated, arrested, trialled and sentenced to Imprisonment in the record of their civil activities.
It should be noted that in recent days, due to the International Workers’ Day and the holding of ceremonies by civil and labor activists, a large number of civil and labor acivists living in Kurdistan province were interrogated after being summoned to Sanandaj Intelligence Office. The focus of the interrogations of these labor activists was to prevent them from attending the International Workers’ Day celebration which took place on April 30th 2020.
The suppression of civil and labor activists and the imposition of restrictions on their civil rights are among the most flagrant human rights violations of freedom of expression illustrated in UDHR article 19.
The suppression in Iran are on the rise, while Article 25 of the UDHR, and the ICCPR, Iran is a signatory to both, emphasizes the right of individuals to have access to adequate social security in terms of food, housing, clothing and so on. Emphasizing social protection services in cases of unemployment, illness, organ failure, biopsy, aging, or in all other cases where the person’s livelihoods have been lost due to unintentional reasons, but Violent clashes between security and judicial organs and Iranian workers and security allegations for the demands of these people are a clear example of flagrant violation of Human Rights.
Holding protest rallies without carrying weapons is one of the rights accentuated in Article 27 of Iran’s Constitution, which the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran claims enforcing it, however the security organizations offer different interpretations on their own behalf in the line of restriction and suppression the citizens in Iran.
