Human Rights in Iran – On Sunday April 5th 2020, Samaneh Norouz Moradi, the activist and political prisoner who following corona virus outbreak is sent on leave, after being summoned by Amin Vaziri, solicitor general, and the assistant prosecutor supervisor of political and security prisoners, was arrested and transferred to the women’s ward in Evin Prison. This political prisoner is serving her 3 years and 9 months sentence in prison.
According to the report of Human Rights in Iran- On Sunday April 6th 2020, Samaneh Norouz Moradi, the activist and political prisoner who was sent on a leave in March due to coronavirus spread, after being summoned by Amin Vaziri, solicitor general and the assistant prosecutor supervisor, was taken into custody and transferred to women’s ward in Evin Prison. The arrest of Samaneh Norouz Moradi occurred while the leave of other political prisoners was extended, however Samaneh Norouz Moradi was deprived of this right. This politcal prisoner suffers from joint lupus as well as from breast cancer and during her imprisonment she has been deprived of accessibility to medical services for complete treatment of these two diseases.
Speaking to the reporter of Human Rights in Iran, a source close to this political prisoner, said: ” After Samaneh Norouz Moradi had released a video in which she stated the reasons for her detainment, and at the end of that video in honor of Prince Reza Pahlavi she had said “Long Life The King=Javid Shah”, by order of Amin Vaziri, the assistant prosecutor, she was summoned and then after arrestion was transferred to women’s ward in Evin Prison to continue her conviction”.
This informed source continued: ” Besides the fact that the arrestation of Samaneh Norouz Moradi is occurred because of expression of her personal idea and political viewpoint, nevertheless this is an evident sign of suppression of Freedom of Speech and Idea, meanwhile in Principle 23 of Constitution it is emphasized on the prohibition of inspecting people’s opinions”. It should be noted that on Wednesday March 18th 2020, Samaneh Norouz Moradi, political activist, imprisoned in women’s ward in Evin Prison who is serving her 3 years and 9 months conviction, after depositing bail was sent on leave.
Based on the recent directive issued by Judiciary, political and Ideological prisoners with a total conviction of 5 years or less, are allowed to receive this leave. Despite the issuance of this directive, many political and Ideological prisoners who deserve the condition to use their leave right, however they are deprived of their right. Also other prisoners who have been sentenced totally more than 5 years in prison and are deprived of the leave right, are also deprived of the access to health care essentials and disinfectants to sterilize their environment and also are in lack of accessibility to masks and medical equipment in the dispensaries of the prisons.
Human Rights in Iran- In February 15th and 16th 2020, had released a report under the title ” Deprivation of Samaneh Norouz Moradi, political prisoner kept in Evin Prison, for the right of treatment”, giving a description of the dire physical situation of this politcal prisoner and her condition of access to medical and curative services.
It should be mentioned that the related accusation to Samaneh Norouz Moradi is her activities in the campaign for for the return of Prince Reza Pahlavi and her activities in Iranian Constitutionalism Party, that because of these accusations she was sentenced by branch 26 of Revolutionary Court in Tehran to serve 3 years and 9 months in prison, and now this political prisoner is serving her conviction.
It should be noticed that in September 2018, she was arrested by the Forces of Intelligence Ministry in Tehran, on the charge of ” supporting one of the anti-regime groups via activities in cyberspace ” and after interrogation procedures and accomplishment of her case to be referred to the Court, she was transferred to the women’s ward in Evin Prison.
Following the trial of Samaneh Norouz Moradi, her case was investigated by branch 26 Revolutionary Court of Tehran, which was headed by Iman Afshar, and this politcal prisoner was sentenced to 8 years in prison on the charge of ” supporting one of anti-regime groups through activities in cyberspace ” that it was her support for the campaign for return of Prince Reza Pahlavi to Iran. After the Article 134 of Islamic Penal Code was carried out, the maximum punishment which is the 5 years sentence in prison was exerted on her, and after the announcement of verdict submission and satisfaction with the issued sentence by primitive court, her 5 year conviction was reduced to a 3 year and 9 month.
On Wednesday April 24th 2019, Samaneh Norouz Moradi after being summoned to Security Court’s Enforcement Unit in Tehran, was arrested and transferred to women’s ward in Evin Prison for serving her 3 years and 9 months conviction.
