The two-hour trial of Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee was held on Tuesday, June 18, at the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran. The two civil rights activists appeared before the court accompanied by their lawyers. The court will issue its ruling on their case within 10 days.
According to the Human Rights in Iran, The new case against Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee includes charges of insulting Khomeini and Khamenei, and causing disruption the prison’s order by resisting physical inspection and by singing anthems in protest to the executions of three Kurdish political prisoners.
Atena Daemi and Golrokh Iraee have also been accused of propaganda against the state by sending open letters out of prison.
Atena Daemi was arrested on October 21, 2014 and subsequently sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for her civil activities.She started serving her sentence in December 2016 in Evin Prison.
Golrokh Iraee was released on April 8, 2019, after finishing serving her sentence since October 24, 2016.
